Tara has been luckey over the years. I know of no other tornado to hit here ever.
Wednesday night our luck ran out.
There were several aircraft destroyed.
I am an active member in the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation (AAHF)
here. We lost several flyable aircraft. A Bell 47 (H-13), Beech T-42 (Baron) and several helicopters that were not flyable in the hangar that was beside the FBO. It was completly blown down. Our Carabou transport aircraft broke free and the tail was damaged. It is repairable but is out for the season.
Several small privately owned aircraft were destroyed, as well as the entire hangar for Smith Air.
Many other buildings were damaged. Holes, blown out doors, dents etc.

I was lucky none of my helicopters were damaged nor was my building other than 2 doors.
It missed me by about 50-75 feet.

Santa's Flight Exam - Santa Claus, like all pilots, gets regular visits from the Federal Aviation Administration, and it was shortly before Christmas when the FAA examiner arrived.

In preparation, Santa had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his logbook out and made sure all his paperwork was

in order.

The examiner walked slowly around the sled. He checked the reindeer harnesses, the landing gear, and Rudolf's nose. He painstakingly

reviewed Santa's weight and balance calculations for the sled's enormous

payload.

Finally, they were ready for the checkride. Santa got in, fastened his seatbelt and shoulder harness, and checked the compass. Then the

examiner hopped in carrying, to Santa's surprise, a shotgun. "What's

The examiner winked and said, "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but
you're gonna lose an engine on takeoff."
